If your PSA order was on the FedEx truck broken into in Santa Ana on Oct 13, 2026, this page sums up what PSA has said about paying you and what other owners have reported so far. It is not legal or financial advice, and every point links to where it was said.

Were your cards on the truck?

PSA began emailing affected customers around Oct 16 and 17 (Fortune (opens in a new tab), SKY-B on X (opens in a new tab)). On Oct 23 it published the complete list of 6,451 stolen items (PSA's list (opens in a new tab)). Paste your cert numbers into our cert checker to see which of yours are on it.

What PSA says it will pay

PSA's Oct 23 update sets out four points (PSA (opens in a new tab)):

  • You are paid fair market value, up to each item's Maximum Insured Value (MIV).
  • PSA works out fair market value from comparable sales, auction results, grades, population reports and other data. For rare items with few recent sales, it looks at a wider range of history.
  • All grading fees on affected orders have been refunded, separately from the compensation.
  • You do not have to wait for the investigation to end. PSA says payments are already going out.

How the Maximum Insured Value works

The MIV is set by the service level chosen when the order goes in. Coverage starts when PSA confirms an item has arrived and runs until the item reaches its next destination. The payout is the lower of fair market value or the MIV. If a graded item is worth more than its tier's MIV, PSA's policy is to move it up a tier and bill the difference (PSA coverage policy (opens in a new tab)).

That cap is behind most of the complaints. Fortune reports that SKY-B's cards were capped at $1,500 each and $156,000 in total, though PSA's own estimates put some above $1,500, such as a Tyrese Maxey at just under $2,000 (Fortune (opens in a new tab)). He told IGN he was never upcharged even though several cards were worth more than their insured value (IGN (opens in a new tab)).

Which label your order shipped on

PSA handles the claim differently depending on how the order was shipped (PSA (opens in a new tab)):

  • Orders on PSA's return label are covered by PSA's insurance, and payments are going out.
  • Orders shipped on the customer's own label are handled one by one.
  • Dealer submissions go through the dealer.

If your cards are found

If stolen items are recovered later, PSA says the owner can choose to keep the compensation or take the item back (PSA (opens in a new tab)).

What other owners are reporting

Some owners say the first offers were low. SKY-B told CBS Los Angeles that some offers were reportedly "insultingly low" (CBS Los Angeles (opens in a new tab)), and a thread on r/psagrading urged victims not to accept offers yet and to coordinate (r/psagrading (opens in a new tab)). These are the owners' own accounts. No outlet has documented a specific final payout (DraftKings Network (opens in a new tab)).

Can you go after FedEx?

A legal analysis in Sports Collectors Daily reportedly argues that the claim against the carrier belongs to PSA as the shipper, so victims would go through PSA rather than sue FedEx directly. We have read only search excerpts of it (Sports Collectors Daily (opens in a new tab)). A lawyer's YouTube video makes the same point, according to its description (Card Counsel (opens in a new tab)). We found no lawsuit over this theft as of Oct 23.

If you have a tip

PSA asks anyone who holds a listed cert or has information to contact the investigators (PSA (opens in a new tab)):
